BIOGRAPHY - Walter Choroszewski
The son of a coal miner and a textile seamstress, Walter Choroszewski was born in Pennsylvania. After graduating from Penn State he moved to New York City, where his first jobs in environmental education led to a new career path in photography.
His first major photo assignment came in 1980 when he was commissioned by a publisher to photograph the state of New Jersey for a book project. NEW JERSEY, A Scenic Discovery, was published in 1981 and established his photographic identity and lifelong link to the Garden State. Walter's photos were the inspiration for the popular New Jersey state tourism campaign:"NEW JERSEY & You ...Perfect Together!" He was the primary photographer of the campaign through the 1980s and 90s and continues to supply images today.
In 1985, the Choroszewski family moved to New Jersey and started Aesthetic Press to publish regional books and calendars. Walter has produced 16 photographic books and numerous wall calendars. He continues to promote a positive image for New Jersey through his creativity and is a leading advocate of state pride.
Walter and his wife, Susan, live in Somerset County, New Jersey.
